Annual conference of the ukrainian association of the blind in the city of Bila Tserkva regarding support for people with visual impairments and their integration into society.
On May 18, 2024, an off-site conference of the Ukrainian Association of the Blind (UAB) took place. Important agreements aimed at supporting people with visual impairments and their integration into society were reached at the conference.
Among the conference participants were: Director of the Obukhiv Vocational Training Enterprise of the Ukrainian Association of the Blind, Victor Mykhaylovych Helia; Acting Chairman of the Board of the Kyiv Regional Branch of the UAB, Igor Aliyevich Shevchenko; Head of the Territorial Department of the Fund for Social Protection of Persons with Disabilities, Alexander Mykolayovych Bohodystyy; President of the NGO «Association for the Protection of the Rights of People with Disabilities in Ukraine», Yan Mykolayovych Gladkiy.
One of the key agreements was the signing of a memorandum of cooperation between representatives of the UAB and the NGO «Association for the Protection of the Rights of People with Disabilities in Ukraine».
This memorandum envisages the implementation of projects on professional retraining and employment of disabled people, which have great potential to improve the economic and social status of this group of people.
The implementation of such projects will contribute to reducing unemployment among disabled people and increasing their self-esteem and independence. Additionally, plans for the re-equipment of production aimed at providing comfortable working conditions for people with disabilities were discussed at the conference.
Finally, it is important to emphasize that events like this conference contribute to the building of a more inclusive and equitable society, creating equal opportunities where every person, regardless of their limitations, has the opportunity to realize their potential and support inclusive development in the country.
